June 4th, 2013, Continued
We stared into each other's eyes. I broke the silence.
"Is he dead?"
Undiel shook his head. "No. But he is far from here. Gone. He won't be coming near anyone here. Ever."
"Ah... good to know." I cocked my head. "You're... thealias?"
"I am. But not this body. You recognize her, don't you?"
I hadn't taken the time to figure out who she was until that moment, and then it hit me like a truck. "That's Kat... Edward's sister."
He nodded. "I assume you now know more now of the two of us... I am, of course, referring to Niftalah and myself."
I nodded. "Inter-dimensional beings?"
Undiel nodded back. "Our world consists of two creatures. His kind, the Shadowmen, and mine, the Gorge. We are both similar, but very different at the same time... an example being our modes of communication, and our telepathic powers. His kind and my kind are at war... in fact, we are the rulers of our people."
I was more than excited about learning this. Before I got very far with my thoughts though, he spoke again.
"Kornelson. We are not friends. We were simply allies for today only. Once the sun sets, I will have no reason not to slay you where you stand, should you happen to be in my way. You humans are nothing but bugs to us." He paused, looking away for a moment, crossing his arms. "Yet even bugs should be left in peace to build their empires, and settle disputes by themselves."
I wasn't really sure how to take what Undiel had just said, but I nodded. "Understood. Are the blue roses yours?"
Undiel turned to look at a few of the roses on the grounded. "Yes... it happens to give me away. When Niftalah and I became trapped in this dimension, I happened to grab onto a patch of roses in the struggle before ending up here. In the process, I guess the entity became infused with my being. Now then... I must go."
"Go?" I said, not wanting him to leave, question burning in my head.
"Inspector..." Undiel said firmly. "You must leave this alone. I will tend to the one you call Slenderman. Do not get involved." A gust of air blew, loud and quick, and Kat fell. I ran to her side, holding her head up.
"Kat? Are you okay?"
Kat's eyes fluttered. "Uhn... Mr. Kornelson?"
"Yes it's me."
"The... the gorge... it took control of me. I couldn't do anything... I- ow!" She winced, holding her head.
"Sh-sh-sshh... it's okay. You need to rest. Can you walk?"
Kat nodded, as I helped her to her feet. "Oh god, Kayle..." she limped her way to Kayle, who seemed to be just waking up.
Kayle opened her eyes, and for a brief moment, seemed to be calm. And then she screamed.
"Kayle!" Kat said, panicking. "It's okay, I got you... nothin is gonna hurt you!"
"NO!!!" Kayle screamed, kicking and flailing. "NO! The tall man! He wants to use me! Don't let him use me!!!" Her voice started dying off, till she was only muttering, and she fell unconscious again. Kat was crying, tear drops falling on Kayle's face. I placed a hand on Kat's shoulder.
"Kat, she's gonna be okay. We need to get you two home. The Slenderman... the Gorge... they won't bother you anymore."
Kat sat on her knees, still crying.
I tear up thinking about it now, as I write. I did get the two of them home, safe and sound. The looks on both Kat's and Kayle's folks were more than emotional.
The Slenderman, Niftalah, got away. The Gorge, Undiel, is now out there, and Edward is still missing. I was warned to stay away from the case... but as long as Edward is missing, I will not give up. I may be dropping the case, but I will be doing everything to find Edward.
Until then, no more journal entries. I simply can't anymore. It's traumatic enough to go through events once. But to then to relive them through words, accessible at anytime to relive? I can't do that anymore.
This is Inspector Gregory Kornelson, signing off.
