Journal Entry #48 - Confrontation, Part 1

June 4th, 2013

So. I went to the woods this morning, backpack on, pistol at my side, 'you don wanna here that thing talk!'

...sorry.

Anywho. I went to the woods, locked, loaded, backpack full and ready to go.

Trudging through the woods for a time, I found the small lake again. Traveling along the bank, I continued to survey the surrounding the area. Eventually, I was on the other side of the lake. Sitting, I pulled a lunch out of my backpack; I had brought a simple PB&J. PB&Js never did me wrong. As I bit into it, I looked up, and spotted quite a bit aways, deeper into the woods... a house.

My thoughts immediately went to entry #25, when Edward had disappeared for the first time. He had ended up inside a house. Thealias contacted Edward there, and the Slenderman had stalked him. But I thought it was all some sort of... vision. Now I see that that was not the case.

I approached cautiously, staying aware of my surroundings. Slowly, I placed my left hand on the door knob. Opening the door, , my right hand placed over the gun on my hip. The living-room is the first room I enter, and I notice it has a very... well, I suppose 1800s feel to it. It looks old... yet looked as if the house had just been built. Compared to the old, rustic look from the outside... I couldn't make heads or tails of whatever situation I was in. I began to wonder if perhaps it was toying with my head. Closing the door behind me, I continued surveying. The kitchen was to my left, as well as the dining area, and looking to my right, a flight of stairs. I thought to myself I suppose I'll start there.

At the top, now on the second floor, I see a couple doors... and one at the end of the hall. For some odd reason, I'm drawn towards it, and all of a sudden, I'm standing in front of it, my hand on the knob, turning it. As it opened, I almost gasped.

The room was dark, but a faint light shown from a window. A long haired figure sat in the center of the room. He/she wore a white hoodie and jeans, as he/she had it's head drooped.

Use caution inspector, she is not herself. Some voice said this in my head... a girl's voice. I continued to stare at the figure in the room. She slowly stood, her head still looking down. I heard her whisper something, but it sounded so loud in my head.

"He's here Gregory. There's no stopping your death now. You've snooped for long enough."

I tried to study the face of the girl before me. I thought I recognized her. but I wasn't sure. "Who are you?" I asked.

She still doesn't look up, her hood covering her eyes. "I usually don a red cape, or a more... pale face. And a different voice... heh."

Of course.

Masky.

That was when I noticed a pale mask at her feet. Holes cut out for the eyes, it confused me.

Masky spoke up "Confused? That's the Proxy Mask. Whomever wears it, becomes his proxy. However, there is a catch. The wearer can't wear it forever. It's power is too much for humans. I can wear this mask for 48 hours... and that's pushing it. If I wear it any longer... I die, and the mask along with me." She paused for a moment. "Of course, it only works on children... anything older than 19, the mask rejects them, and nothing happens. Even then, teenagers can be... iffy. Results may vary."

"Enough." I said. "Who are you behind the mask?"

"...you haven't figured that out yet? Are you serious?" She looks up at me, and evil grin stretched across her face. "Recognize me yet?"

I  stared at her face... and it dawned on me. "K-Kayle??"

She bows to me. "The one and only. Mostly. I know I'm not really myself right now, but who gives a crap?" She sits back down. Taking the mask, she examines it. "One last time." She puts the mask on, and a whispered sigh echos from it. A different voice speaks now. "Ahhhh. That feels great." Masky stands up. "Now then... you should really be going. He's waiting for you."

I blink.

I'm outside.

I hear myself breathing. I couldn't see anyone... I was outside the house, with no one. No one I could tell, anyway.

He then stood before me.

I was eye level with his waist. I looked up to see his head staring down at me, faceless, and emotionless. His tentacles were flailing behind him, while his arms drooped at his side. His black business suit was flawlessly wrinkle free, no trace of any stains or marks. He leaned down, his head closer to mine now. It was then that I heard a reverbed, warbly sound, in my head. I think it was talking to me. Somehow, I understood what it was saying... though it wasn't really words, it was more like...influencing... placing ideas into my head.

He was... amused. I had been investigating for a while now, and nothing. Now that I've actually found something... it's too late. All my work for nothing. I was going to die... and for what? Kayle, who was under the influence of an inter-dimensional creature? Edward, who is nowhere to be seen, and was probably dead? My own agendas?

Snapping out of the train of thoughts, i realized I was gasping for air, as I was five feet above the ground, being held by one of Slendy's tentacles. The touch of his tentacles... it was like nothing I've ever felt. it felt different, as if the touch of it's black skin wasn't meant to exist... like my body was confused as to what was actually touching me... like it didn't belong on this earth.

I clawed at his tentacle arm around my neck, trying to breath. I kicked, but to no avail. I felt my face turn red, and my arms getting weaker. This was it. There was nothing I could do. I felt my back push slightly against something hard. It was a tree branch. I was barely struggling now, as i felt my body being pushed against the branch. To my left and right, hoping beyond hope that someone was there to help, or something iI could grab...

That's when I noticed, on my right, a few blue petals falling from the sky, and on the ground...

Lay a blue rose.
